What is architectural cast stone?

Architectural cast stone and natural stone are both popular choices for any construction project. However, there are some key differences between the two materials.

The process of making cast stone involves a mix of Portland cement, aggregate, natural sands, and color pigment. It is then cast into molds to create the desired shape and may simulate natural cut stone and its inherent beauty.

In contrast, natural cut stone is exactly what it sounds like—stone that has been cut from a quarry. Because it is a natural product, no two pieces of cut stone are exactly alike.

Cast stone features

The phrase “cast in stone” denotes permanence. And that’s what our high-quality precast stonework delivers:

  • Durability in a broad spectrum of colors, shapes, textures, and finishes to meet the diverse needs of our customers.
  • Standard finishes include traditional Keystone, shell Coquina, and smooth Limestone in an infinite blend of colors.

We can manufacture standard, custom, and semi-custom categories of cast stone as per contractors’ requirements.

Why use architectural cast stone?

One advantage of cast stone is that it can be produced in a wide range of colors and textures. The production process gives designers and architects more flexibility when choosing materials for a project.

Cut stone such as granite marble, travertine, slate, or quartz, on the other hand, is limited to the colors and textures that occur naturally.

Cast stone offers many benefits, including:

  • Greater longevity than traditional wet/dry cast concrete products
  • Improved process and quality control
  • High-performance strength
  • Enhances the appearance of any project
  • Less expensive option than traditional stone
